Monitors & Panels

We supply all types of monitor and panel – standalone for use with PCs and workstations, or console format for use with rackmount servers, bare panels for laptops or replacements and industrial panels.

Monitors and panels fall into four basic types:

  • CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) – large, heat-producing, most expensive to run, but there are still many thousands in use and they are still preferred by many
  • LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) – much slimmer, less image distortion / clicker, further sub-divided into Active and Passive Matrix, most commonly TFT (Thin Film Transistor) or Active Matrix and DSTN (Double-layer Super Twisted Nematic) also referred to as Dual Scan
  • LED (Liquid Emitting Diode) – are their own light source, which allowed manufacturers to dispense with CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent) tubes in the assembly, further reducing bulk and running costs.
  • OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) – cooler-running, thinner, with better contrast OLED technology has allowed for advances such as curved screens and much larger dimensions at more affordable price points

Most monitors and panels currently in use will be of one of the following resolutions:

  • nHD (640×360)
  • SVGA (800×600)
  • XGA (1024×768)
  • WXGA (1280×720)
